Yesterday, the President vowed to veto the Full Faith and Credit Act, charging that it "would result in the Congress refusing to pay obligations it has already agreed to." I challenge the President to name one member of Congress who has suggested that this bill is an acceptable substitute for not paying our other bills.

Amidst all the controversies gripping Congress, certainly we should all be able to agree that the full faith and credit of the United States - the very trust the public has when it loans money to the government - should not hang in the balance every time there's a fiscal debate in Washington.

On Wednesday, the Democratic Whip charged that the Full Faith and Credit Act places America at risk of default. As Churchill once said, "It would not be possible to state the opposite of the truth with greater precision." Quite the contrary, this measure guarantees that whatever political storms are raging in Washington, America's debt will ALWAYS be paid IN FULL and ON TIME.

Committee Markup Statement: HR 934 simply conforms the Merced River's Wild and Scenic River boundary with the pre-existing Federal Energy Regulatory Commission hydroelectric boundary for Lake McClure - which should have been done when the original designation was made. The boundary change would enable the district to study the possibility of increasing the New Exchequer Dam's spillway by ten feet, making it possible to temporarily store about 70,000 acre feet of additional water

The House has been considering HR 624, the so-called CISPA bill. Although its sponsors assure us that a person's Internet data would be stripped of personal identification, the bill allows this data then to be used to prosecute certain federal crimes. How could that be? It turns out, the government, having stumbled upon this evidence, can then seek a warrant to obtain the personally identifying information.
