HR 1806 – America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2015: No.

HR 1806 – America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2015: No. This is a $33 billion authorization for the next two years (paid out over the next four) for a grab-bag of grants administered mainly by the National Science Foundation and Department of Energy. If you are an average family, that accounts for about $262 of your taxes. For that $262, you will get the satisfaction of knowing that you have supplemented the research and development budgets of politically well-connected companies that can successfully lobby for these grants – including $1.2 billion for that favorite old sink-hole, "renewable energy." The only good thing that can be said about this bill (unless you are on the receiving end of the gravy train) is that it is not as bad as previous "science" bonanzas.
