Denouncing Socialism

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-05) delivered the following remarks on the House floor in support of House Concurrent Resolution 58 denouncing  socialism.  

Excerpt:  Many societies have succumbed to the siren song of a benevolent, all-powerful government only to awaken one morning to find the benevolence is gone and the all-powerful government is still there.
 
Let that not be the epitaph of the United States of America.   

The history of human society can be summed up in just four words: Freedom works.  Socialism sucks.
