U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock, CA-04, joined by 13 California members of the House of Representatives called on President Trump to continue to provide federal assistance for fire suppression and recovery.
“For the state of California to endure these catastrophic wildfires, it is going to take your continued leadership and support,” the letter to the President said. “We stand ready to assist you in expediting federal support to impacted communities.” A copy of the letter is attached.
For many years, forest management and fire-prevention took a back-seat at these summits, but now nature is screaming its warning at us as fires rage throughout the west: the Tahoe Basin is on borrowed time. The fires all around us present a stark question: How much longer does Tahoe have? Will the view at next year’s summit be one of burned out structures, blackened vistas and an ash-choked lake?
Congressman Tom McClintock announced that the President of the United States has signed H.R. 381, designating a mountain in the John Muir Wilderness of the Sierra National Forest as “Sky Point.” The bill honors Marine SSgt Sky Mote of El Dorado, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 10, 2012.
